"The Hastings-on-Hudson collaboration illustrates how a small village can pull together to facilitate the creation of affordable homes – a true model for many other towns and villages." -Rose Noonan, Executive Director of Housing Action Council.
Completing a new, 3-bedroom single-family homeownership opportunity and a single rental apartment was the most recent example of a nearly 30-year commitment from Hastings-on-Hudson to advocate for and help create affordable housing solutions in the Village. "In 1990, our Village Board pulled together a volunteer committee that led to the founding of a nonprofit Housing Development Fund Corp," says Hastings-on-Hudson Affordable Housing Committee chair, Arthur Riolo.
We have been part of this dedicated team of collaborators that includes the Hastings-on-Hudson Affordable HDFC, Inc., Housing Action Council, Westchester County, and NYS Affordable Housing Corp. Since 2009 we invested $500,000 through feasibility, pre-development, and construction loans, our longstanding partnership has led to creating 30 affordable homes.
