The Newburgh Ministry, Inc.
"We recognize that creating housing could mean the difference between life and death for someone who lives in an abandoned building in sub-zero temperatures during the winter months. We cannot allow this type of tragedy to continue in the communities that we serve. Decent, quality affordable housing is the solution. The loan provided by CCNY puts us on the right side of this equation." -Colin Jarvis, Executive Director, The Newburgh Ministry, Inc.
A multicultural, grassroots organization in the City of Newburgh, Newburgh Ministry serves people who are formerly homeless. Just this year, we proudly became their community lender with a $150,000 acquisition loan to buy an adjacent property and expand their impact. In partnership with the NHP Foundation, Newburgh Ministry is developing thirty single-room-occupancy units. The affordable housing development will serve individuals experiencing substance use disorder, severe mental illness, and chronic homelessness.
When we opened our doors 30 years ago, this is precisely the type of impact we hoped to create. It is our privilege to be part of Newburgh Ministry's story and provide lending that supports a new beginning for families in the Hudson Valley.
